Understanding our greatest challenges is crucial – for everything

As a trained facilitator in climate science education (Climate Fresk), biodiversity education (Biodiversity Collage), Earth systems (Planetary Boundaries Fresco) and circular economy (Circular Economy Collage), I help Boards, C-Suites, NFPs, Councils, Communities and Citizens wrap their heads around complex issues – and inspire action.

The format was great in being a very visual representation of climate change and being able to clearly see what the big drivers are. Melissa’s facilitation was encouraging, thought-provoking and supportive through the scientifically and emotionally challenging content.

Upcoming Workshops

The following are community workshops I’ll be facilitating. Everyone is welcome to join.

What is a Climate Fresk workshop?

Climate Fresk is a French NGO who have turned the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) 6th assessment report into an interactive game. This is the format we use for this workshop.

It’s designed to make climate science accessible, taking you through the causes and effects of climate change.

Using this globally-acclaimed workshop framework and guided by a trained facilitator, you can improve your team’s climate literacy in just a few hours.

You’ll join a cohort of over 2 million participants from around the world from large organisations through to grassroots community groups.

What is a Biodiversity Collage workshop?

The Biodiversity Collage (also a French NGO), which has educated and engaged over 65,000 participants worldwide.

It’s based on the UN’s IPBES reports, making the science more accessible to foster a deeper understanding of biodiversity’s value and the actions needed to protect it.

In just a few hours, you can grasp the science behind ecosystem functions and threats, as well as explore real-world solutions, making it a powerful tool for creating lasting environmental change.

What is a Planetary Boundaries Fresco?

The Planetary Boundaries Fresco (by you guessed it, another French NGO called 1er degré), helps participants understand the crucial Earth systems on which all life depends – of which Climate Change is one.

In just 3.5 hours you’ll come away with a blinkers-off understanding of the *incredible* processes that keep the Earth liveable – and a brutal (but necessary) understanding of what’s at stake if we continue with ‘business-as-usual’.

Based on the latest planetary science, this is an interactive, systems thinking, collective intelligence workshop designed to create awareness and entice urgent action.

What is a Circular Economy Collage?

The Circular Economy Collage is an interactive workshop that helps participants understand how our current linear economic model extracts and uses resources and creates waste – and explores the opportunity for a circular economy.

In 3 hours, participants will learn about the dominant economic model, and then the theory, practice and case studies of a circular economy.

La Fresque de l’Economie Circulaire was also inspired by Climate Fresk as a powerful way to educate and engage people in complex environmental and social problems.

Got an interest in learning about *the most important* things that will shape the future?

Get in touch with me. I can help you schmooze your boss to book a workshop. I can work with you to run one in your local community. Or I can let you know when I’m next running one to come along to.
